Shakur Collection Conference Proceedings Available Online and Shakur Collection Exhibit on Display

Today marks the birthday of legendary poet, actor, and multi-platinum recording artist, Tupac Shakur.  In celebration of what would be his 43rd birthday, the Atlanta University Center (AUC) Robert W. Woodruff Library is pleased to announce the conference proceedings of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Collection Conference: “Hip Hop, Education and Expanding the Archival Imagination” are available to the public online. Available for viewing are scholarly papers, PowerPoint presentations, and videos of conference sessions and keynote speakers. The AUC Woodruff Library and Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation hosted the inaugural conference on September 28-29, 2012. Hip Hop scholars, archivists, educators, students and artists from around the country and abroad convened for the historic academic event that explored Shakur’s life and work as well as Hip Hop archives and studies. The conference was held in commemoration of the opening of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Collection to promote scholarship and research of the multi-dimensional artist. The historic Collection includes handwritten manuscripts, song lyrics, track listings, video and album treatments, short stories, and other items.
